Tater Tot Casserole (No Box Needed Dinner Series)

This tater tot casserole is one of those reliable, throw-it-together meals that comes out hearty, filling, and perfect for busy nights.

It’s the kind of meal that doesn’t look fancy-but somehow everyone goes back for seconds anyway.

No can of cream of mushroom soup? No problem-you can use my homemade cream of mushroom soup instead, and it works just as well.

Tater Tot Casserole

A simple budget-friendly ground beef casserole made with pantry staples and topped with crispy tater tots. Comfort food without the box.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 can green beans (drained) mixed veggies work too.
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup (see my cream of mushroom soup)
  • 1 pkg tater tots
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Brown ground beef in a skillet. drain excess grease. Set aside.
  3. In a bowl, mix drained green beans (veggies) with the cream of mushroom soup. Add ground beef. mix all together.
  4. Pour mixture into a 9×13 baking dish, spread out evenly.
  5. Arrange frozen tots on top in a single layer.
  6. Bake for 30 minutes. If using cheese sprinkle over the top and put back in the oven about 5-10 minutes more.

Notes

  • You can swap cream of mushroom soup for cream of chicken or a homemade version.
  • Add onion and/or garlic to taste for extra flavor.
  • Works great with frozen vegetables or even leftovers.
