Homemade Taco Seasoning (Basic Pantry Mix)

A simple homemade taco seasoning made from everyday spices. Perfect for skillets. casseroles, ground beef, shredded chicken and my Ramen Taco Skillet.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • ½ tsp cumin
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • ¼ tsp oregano
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp salt
  • Optional: ¼ – ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • Optional: ½ teaspoon cornstarch for "packet-style" thickening

Method
 

  1. Mix all ingredients in a small bowl
  2. Use about 2 tablespoons of the seasoning for 1 pound of meat or one skillet recipe.
  3. Store in an airtight container for up to 6 months.

Notes

  • Add more chili powder for extra warmth.
  • Add cornstarch if you want the thick sauce that packet mixes create.
  • Great in ramen dishes, casseroles, taco skillets or soups.
