Diner Style
This Fried Bologna and Tot Sandwich with grilled onions and cheese is a diner style classic with one extra twist – crispy tater tots tucked right inside. It’s not really as much as a method, and everyone can build it the way they like it.
- Bologna slices
- Onion, slices
- Cheese slices
- Frozen tater tots
- Sandwich bread
- Optional condiments (mustard, mayonnaise or none)

How to Make It
- Cook the tater tots – Prepare the frozen tater tots according to package directions until crispy.
- Fry the bologna – In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bologna slices until browned and slightly crisp. Let them curl naturally – this creates a bowl shape that helps hold the tater tots.
- Cook the onions – In the same skillet, saute the sliced onions until soft and lightly carmelized.
- Assemble the sandwich – Add mayonnaise, mustard to your bread. Next use the bologna as a bowl. To the bologna bowl add onions, tots, and cheese (any cheese of your choice). Boom! Done!
