Method
- Soak beans overnight in water.
- Drain and add fresh water. Simmer until very tender (1½–2 hours).
- Drain most of the cooking liquid, leaving about 1/2 cup.
- Stir in tomato sauce and seasonings.
- Simmer 15–20 minutes until saucy and well blended.

- slow cooker - 6-8 hours
- pressure cooker - 35 minutes
